NCHJA Juniors

Letter from your Junior Representative, Maddison Farrington

Hi everyone,
I hope you’ll take a second to read this as I really need your help!

First, I hope (and know) that everyone is looking forward to our upcoming summer break as much as I am, but the summer break means that we must be getting close to the NCHJA Annual Horse Show in Raleigh, scheduled for July 2-6.

Just like in previous years, the juniors have been asked by the NCHJA Horse Show committee to contribute to the shows success, and the Junior Committee has recommended two ways that we can help.

The first project is to develop a Horse Show Poster, which will be sold at the auction held during the show. This has been done in past years by a junior member and the artist can be as creative as they wish in what the poster contains or how it’s developed. We just ask that it represent the junior’s love of horses and our sport. Please let me know as soon as possible if you can create this for the annual show or maybe the juniors at one of the barns can creative it as a group.

The second project requires everyone’s help in order for it to be as successful as we know it can be. The theme of this project is “Horses for Higher Education”, and all money raised will go directly into the Norah Morris Scholarship fund.

The idea for this project is that each junior member will approach owners of the horses at their barns to make a minimum $10 donation toward the “Horses for Higher Education” Wall of Fame. With this donation a picture of their horse will be placed on the Wall of Fame at the annual NCHJA Horse show this year. All checks should be made payable to “NCHJA – Norah Morris Scholarship Fund”, and all donations are tax deductible.

For those that donate, we request that you take a digital picture of the owner’s horse and send the pictures to me electronically along with the check no later than June 13. For each picture please send me the owners name and the name of the horse so that we can recognize their donations.

I have attached a flyer that I hope you find useful in getting the word out at your barns. If you want to swap out the names listed with your name then please do so if it’s more effective.

Thanks in advance for your help on these projects, and I am really counting on everyone’s help in making these projects a success. If you have any questions or comments then just let me know.

Maddie
