2023 Sally Ives EJ Haun

E.J. Haun Memorial Medal

The E.J. Haun Medal is named in memory of Ed Haun from Charlotte, NC. Ed, with his cheerful voice, announced at most shows in the NC area as well as other top shows in the country. Ed sadly passed away in the early 1970’s. The NCHJA offers to shows the E.J. Haun Memorial Medal competition open only to individual Junior Members. This class is to be shown over an equitation type course at both the 3’3” height and the 3’6” height.

The top 15 Junior members who have accumulated points from June 1 through May 31 in the E.J. Haun Medal Class will be eligible for the Finals. The Finals will be held at the NCHJA Annual Show in June. The winner of the E.J. Haun Memorial Medal Finals will receive a $1,000 Grant from the NCHJA. This grant may be used towards equestrian improvement, academic advancement, or a combination of both. The winners must submit their request for the funds to be transferred in writing within six (6) months of their win.


Emily Grace Swinson 2023 Bryan Jones

Bryan Jones Memorial Medal

The Bryan Jones Memorial Medal was renamed in honor and memory of Bryan, a beloved horseman from Chapel Hill, NC. Through Harmony Farms, Inc. he turned out exceptional riders and maintained individual success as a professional. Following a tragic riding accident in 2001, Bryan continues to be remembered for his kindness, soft spoken personality, great sense of humor and concern for others. This class is to be shown over an equitation type course, open to Senior members of NCHJA.

The top 15 Senior Amateur members who have accumulated points from June 1 through May 31 in the Bryan Jones Memorial Medal Class will be eligible for the Finals. The Finals will be held at the NCHJA Annual Show in June. The winner of the Bryan Jones Memorial Medal Finals will receive a $1,000 Grant from the NCHJA. This grant may be used towards equestrian improvement, academic advancement, or a combination of both. NCHJA Children’s Medal

The Children’s Medal Class is shown over an equiation type course and is open to Junior Member’s of NCHJA.

Addison Ketner 2023 Pony Medal

NCHJA Pony Medal

The Pony Medal Class is shown over an equitation type course and is open to Junior Members of NCHJA.

The top 15 Junior members who have accumulated points from June 1 through May 31 in the NCHJA Pony Medal Class will be eligible for the Finals. The Finals will be held at the NCHJA Annual Show in June. The winner of the NCHJA Pony Medal Finals will receive a $1,000 Grant from the NCHJA. This grant may be used towards equestrian improvement, academic advancement, or a combination of both. The winners must submit their request for the funds to be transferred in writing within six (6) months of their win.


2024 NCHJA C Medal & Hunter Finals Qualifying

Qualifying Period is September1, 2023 – August 31, 2024

All Hunter Finals qualify by earning Champion or Reserve in their respective division.  Horse must be recorded with NCHJA and rider must be a member of NCHJA

For NCHJA C Medal finals riders must be a member of NCHJA and earn the required number of points in their respective Medal Classes during the qualifying period.  Riders are encouraged to continue showing in their Medal classes even after reaching the required number of points needed to qualify.

C Masters Medal earn 20 points                  C Low Adult Medal earn 15 points

C Pony Medal earn 8 points                         C Long Stirrup Medal earn 20 points
